BOWLING GREEN Ky. - The United Auto Workers have gone ahead with a historic strike after failing to come to an agreement with Ford, Stellantis and General Motors. Currently there are no plans for a strike at the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant says Local 2164 President Brian Ferrett. However, this could change at any moment depending on how contract negotiations go. "It could be a minute from now. It could be five days from now if Bowling Green Local 2164 is given any direction to do what happened last night, we are prepared. We've been preparing for about a month now," Ferrett said. This is an uneasy situation for the union brass and the workers as in a perfect world no one would have to strike, but unfortunately the current disagreements require action that everyone has to be willing to take. In the meantime, union members here in Bowling green and Warren County are working to help their brothers and sisters that are striking elsewhere in the country. "Wentzville, a large facility, three shift operation. They're out now. And what is being asked of all of us is support those members in some way. We had to take up some collections, food pantry, just words of encouragement," Ferrett said.
